A PARCHMENT accompanies each individual Reproduction at any of the three proposed formats.
It is offered with the translation in several foreign languages, to allow the customer to be able to appreciate in his native language, the narrative story that can make of the work reproduced. The Parchment is descriptive, shows the main elements of the artist’s life and the work, its characteristics, the historical context in which it was built, the environment, uses and costumes of that era. The use of parchment in the civilization of writing, is very old, dating back at least to the second century BC. It consisted of an animal skin untanned, and only later was made it hemp fiber or other natural fibers, the same one that is only in use today. The Parchment is named after the ancient city of Pergamon, capital of the kingdom in Asia Minor, now Turkey, near Izmir. According to the Roman writer Pliny the Elder, it was used in place of papyrus.
Indeed Pergamon had a great library that rivaled that of Alexandria in Egypt. Because of this cultural competition between the two countries, Egypt stopped exporting papyrus and in Pergamon was invented a new material to write about (204-180 BC).
In Italy, the use of the Parchment is very old, has been handed down for centuries and formed the raw material on which are extant manuscripts of the Middle Ages that reproduced codes and texts in Greek, Latin, Arabic and Oriental languages.
We wanted to bring the story of our Reproductions on Parchment paper, to give the art work the due respect and importance, involving the reader in the emotion of taking refuge in the atmosphere of the reassuring past and a distracted by an the eternal present. The look and feel of parchment, returns with the richness of the designs, as was the custom in the past, including the sprig of holly flowery within them and the logo Like Italy Collection.
The Parchment, attached to each Reproduction, is considered an integral part, qualified and essential of the Reproduction itself, to the point that using a brass support is placed within the frame of wood or synthetic crystal, and is simply attached in the playback form of posters.
